Reflection

Experience
With the experience of going through both Typography and Advance Typography, Advance Typography allowed us to be more creative, as it focused more on creating and presenting. The task I enjoyed the most was Task 2. This task gave us a lot of creative freedom and allowed us to make a design based on our interests, giving us a small experience in branding. In task 3 we were required to create a font, present it and apply it. My overall experience with this task is decent and I have learned a lot about the font creation process, from the proposal to the application. Finally, task 1 introduced us to some more of the typography principles. I admit this is not my best work, both the typography systems and type and play. I struggled a lot trying to come up with a layout for them both. Throughout the 3 tasks, I had struggles coming up with the designs and acknowledge that there is a lot of room for improvement. Overall, the task in Advance Typo had more room for creativity but had a larger workload compared to typography, but it was a pleasant experience.

Observations
I observed that I was unable to execute some of my ideas due to the lack of research. I typically rely on visual research, however, I have observed that that is not enough and additional reading/watching is required for me to carry out what I have in mind. This is evident throughout tasks 1, 2 and 3 where I was very clearly struggling to come up with designs I had in my mind. This has encouraged me to read up/ watch content that gives advice on designing.

Findings
These 3 tasks, though challenging, provided me with some learning opportunities. For example, task 1 provided me with some experience with the layout in typography, meanwhile, task 2 provided me some experience in branding and developing a brand identity. Task 3, the task that allowed me to create a font, provided me with experience in how type development actually works. I found that all experiences from the previous task can be carried forward to each of the tasks.
