Lectures

Week 2
We learned about camera shots and angles. 

Week 3
This week we learned about the 3-act structure consisting of Act 1, Act 2, and Act3.

Act 1:
  • The beginning / setup
  • to introduce the world and main characters
  • to establish the situation that leads to conflict 
Act 2
  • The middle/confrontation 
  • Leads to the climax
  • Is where the obstacle/complication is
Act 3 
  • The end/resolution 
  • Solving the conflict and tying loose ends
-20 for ambience; dialog -6 to -12
add fade in fade out for audio

Week 4
  • Mise en scene is art direction
  • producer focuses on admin stuff and the director is used for creative direction
  • DOP in charge of camera
  • 2 sound recorders, one with recorder and headphones the other with the boom mic(sound effects).

Task 

Week 1

This week we were familiarized with the layout of Adobe Premiere Pro. Sir asked us to edit some numbered clips to form a short video.

Week 2 

This week we learned about camera shots and Sir made us form pairs to record each other in different camera angle shots.

Week 3
This week we were asked to edit some footage and graphics Mr Martin gave into a parody video of the Lalin video we saw. I watched the tutorial provided by Sir and edited the footage.

I initially just edited the footage without the graphics and audio, but after seeing my friend edit it in, I decided to add it in.

Week 4
This week we talked about the 3 act structure. After making us watch some short films, Guang and Lalin, we did a short exercise where we identified the 3 act structure of each film.

Week 10
This week we were asked to test out filming a shot stop-motion scene with the camera and the application.

Week 11
Masking tool in after effect. This week we were taught how to mask objects in After Effects to create a visual effect. The exercise this week was to make a girl be flicked by a finger.

Reflection

The exercises acted as an introduction to Premiur Pro. They were fun to do as they were not graded and I enjoyed editing them with no pressure.
