Week 9
This week we learned about surrealism. Surrealism pushes the
boundary between what is real and not real. Surrealism aims to bring
the impossible into reality.

Task
Project 2A : Double Exposure
For this task, we were asked to follow the tutorial video to carry
out an exercise 1st. After completing the exercise, we were asked
to carry out double exposure with our own picture to show that we
know how to use Ps. Unfortunately, I did not save one of the
pictures that I used so it is lost forever.

Project 2b: Photo Imaging Poster Design
For this part of the Project, we were to come up with a poster
design based on one of the United Nations Sustainable
Development Goals. After this, we were to submit the poster to
the myTigers competition hosted by Maybank. The goal I choose
was SDG 15 (Life on Land). I took some photos and bashed them
together to from the image in the tigers eye. We were to write
a summary of our poster. My poster is as follows.
The eyes of the tiger show the reflection of the destruction
of their home. The tiger watched as their home is burnt and
broken down. It does nothing because it is scared. Tears are
drawn on its eye to show the tiger crying over the loss of
its home.
I am focusing on SDG 15 (life on land). I chose to
focus on tigers(Malayan tigers) because they are one
of the critically endangered species in Malaysia. And
also because Maybank’s logo is a tiger. Due to human
activities, we humans have become one of the predators who
can cause serious harm to the tiger. Recently, my friend has
been complaining about having snakes in her housing area.
She speculates that it is because of the development site
nearby that is clearing up the trees to build a luxury
condo, chasing the animals into the housing areas. I thought
of showing a story on how
deforestation leads to the loss of animals' homes.
The tiger's stripes contain the forest because the stripes
help the tiger blends in with the first. I thought it would
be fun to juxtapose the bald forest in the tiger's
eyes with the lush forest in the stripes.
Based on SDG 15, urgent action must be taken to
reduce the loss of natural habitats and biodiversity
which are part of our common heritage and support global
food and water security, climate change mitigation and
adaptation, and peace and security. One of the goals of SDG
15 is to mobilize significant resources from all sources and
at all levels to finance sustainable forest management and
provide
adequate incentives to developing countries to
advance such management, including for conservation and
reforestation. I hope that this poster can
bring awareness to the issue of the loss of animal
habitat.

Reflection
My experience with double exposure was good. The video
provided was detailed and helped too. I had used
clipping mask before so it was a bit easier for me to do
it.
My observation for the poster-making process is that it
is really hard to come up with some good composition,
ideas, and story for the poster. I struggles a bit
during this part. But I just went on Pinterest to look
for inspiration.
Overall, this assignment itself was alright. We were
given enough time to do it and managed to learn about
double exposure.
Thank you :D
